I completed a spread illustration for dbusiness magazine's April issue which just came to this week. It was a cool concept based on the second TRON movie and features some Star Wars style type. I replaced the cycles with cars because it is Detroit after all.
My sketch versions of the racing vehicles was not working in color so I did a re-design that gave them the more sinuous look of the futuristic motorcyles in the film. It is interesting how the wireframe view below of the finished art resembles the sketch.
This was created as an entirely vector illustration using the pen tool and the transparency feature to form the glowing night time light effects that are prominent in the film TRON.
I created the FIBERWARS title type as a freehand drawing using the STAR WARS type as an inspiration. The actual type is a simple series of shapes designed to simulate transparency and a neon style glow.
